It’s autumn season and you know what that means! Apples and pumpkin spice, and everything nice–all those warm and toasty flavors as you snuggle up from the beginning of an outside chill. Fall means cozy recipes, and here I have a roundup of my absolute favorite recipes. Everything from Thanksgiving pies, to warm and comforting soups, to cookies that look like festive candy corn. Check out all the great fall recipes below!
Table of Contents
1. punchy apple cider doughnuts;
What better way to celebrate classic fall recipes and your favorite flavors than with apple cider doughnuts? These doughnuts feature a concentrated apple cider glaze, and a secret ingredient that makes them surprisingly extra punchy! Check out the recipe to find out what it is, and then leave a comment whether you’d try it or not!
2. broccoli cheddar soup;
When you put together a list of fall recipes, there has to be soup. Soups are so cozy and warm and comforting. My go-to soup is homemade broccoli cheddar soup. What I love about making it myself is that I can keep the broccoli and carrots large and chunky. Of course, if you prefer, you can blend it up smooth, but I like a little extra chunk to my veggies.
Bonus tip: make these sour cream and chive onion biscuits to go alongside your broccoli cheddar soup. They pair perfectly, and you always need some sort of bread to sop up the delicious soup.
3. apple butter three ways;
Apples are a fall staple, and what better way to serve apples then stewed up with spice and sugar? No better way, that’s the answer! Make your own homemade slow cooker apple butter for use in other recipes, or just smear it on a slice of bread. Or eat it out of the jar, no judgment here!
But if you make a big batch and are looking for some variety, check out this apple butter tart. Think pumpkin pie, but apple-y instead of pumpkin! A delicious apple custard in a flaky crust is a fun new addition to your Thanksgiving table. Or opt for three-ingredient no bake apple butter truffles. You know that if there’s a delicious flavor, I’ll be sure to find a way to coat it in chocolate!
4. cheesy chicken ‘n dumplings
Cozy and warm flavors come together in this super easy crock pot recipe. Set and forget in the slow cooker, and when you come home your house will smell amazing! Add some pre-made biscuits on top and let it simmer away for doughy, delicious dumplin’s. Smothered with chicken and a creamy stew, this is comfort in every spoonful, definitely a must for your fall recipes list.
5. caramelized honey pumpkin pie;
Crank up your classic pumpkin pie with some caramelized honey. With the perfect sweetness and extra brown butter for a rich, creamy filling, this pumpkin pie will grace any dessert table beautifully this fall season. Plus, I include a recipe for chai whipped cream which complements the pumpkin pie with a chef’s kiss.
6. candy corn cookies;
I love these candy corn cookies. Adorable cookies in the shape of candy corn, but made with fresh, delicious flavors. With a hint of orange zest, these sugar cookies have a beautiful flavor across all three candy corn colors. These cookies are small and poppable–which makes them dangerous. It’s easy to eat two, or four, or eight. These are definitely a must for your fall recipes!
7. apple cider slush;
I don’t know about you, but we’ve had some hot days extend into the fall recently! When it’s still hot out, but you still want apple cider, try this apple cider slush! Cool and refreshing, it’s a fun, chilled way to still enjoy autumn flavors even while the sun’s out!
8. maple shortbread cookies;
Two-inch maple leaf cookies are packed full of maple flavor and buttery soft crumble and then melt-in-your-mouth cookies. Drooling yet? I love decorating these with various chocolate drizzles and dips, and then topping with some golden fall sprinkles.
The maple leaf cookie cutter I use is actually a pie crust cutter form, but it makes for adorable cookies. This isn’t the exact set I use, but its close since I bought mine years ago at sur la table. The best part is you can just use it as a cookie cutter, or you can press the imprint form into the cookies for an extra variation.
9. apple cider caramels;
Apple cider caramels are chewy, soft, and can be served individually or coated in chocolate. I love these topped with a sprinkle of sea salt to round out the flavors. They’re so juicy and concentrated with that sweet and tart apple cider flavor, this is a must on your fall recipes list!
10. miso biscuits;
These homemade biscuits are fluffy and flaky, and everything you want in a fall comfort food. The miso brings an extra salty, umami flavor to a classic biscuit, and they go so well with cozy soups or crock pot meals! Try them with this copycat zuppa toscana soup recipe.
11. chocolate chip pumpkin scones;
These crumbly pumpkin scones are a delicious combination of cinnamon, pumpkin, orange, and of course chocolate in every bite! I love these for breakfast or dessert–they’re great served with coffee! This was my sister’s recipe, but now we make it all the time because it’s so damn delicious!
12. pumpkin spice chocolate patties;
Think classic peppermint patty, only instead of peppermint, your favorite cinnamony-nutmeg-allspice pumpkin filling. It’s still a creamy, chewy center that melts away in your mouth. Top with fun Halloween sprinkles to make these a spooky treat at your next Halloween party!
13. Halloween cocktails to make your party scream;
I love making a fun cocktail, and what better excuse than a Halloween party?! This series started off with the liquid luck cocktail below, but it was just the starting recipe. I went on to make a whole series of witches potions—complete with potion bottles, and have continued making new Halloween cocktails every year!
Check out the full Halloween cocktail list, or check out the swirling gold cocktail or mocktail named after the Harry Potter felix felicis potion below!
14. sweet corn mochi cornbread;
Fall also means corn mazes, corn, and, and maize! (See what I did there?). This sweet corn mochi cornbread is an amazingly chewy, sweet-and-savory cornbread, and a classic of my fall recipes. You can use fresh corn or canned, but no matter what you choose it’ll be an amazing side dish to any table!
15. pecan streusel apple pie;
The inspiration for this pie came from a local VA apple festival where I actually won a raffle for this pie! It was sooooo good that I just needed more of it in my life (and preferred it with a gluten free pie crust). Thus, my homemade pecan streusel apple pie recipe was born!
With toasty, roasty pecans, a sweet oat crumble, and sweet cinnamon apple pie filling, every bite is so satisfying. With different textures, flavors, and deliciousness in every forkful, I promise it won’t disappoint.
16. pulled pork mac ‘n cheese;
For another fall dinner recipe, bbq pulled pork mac and cheese is just comfort in a bowl. If there was ever a picture next to comfort food in the dictionary, this would be it. Rich and creamy homemade macaroni and cheese mixed with tender pulled pork and drizzled with your favorite barbecue sauce. It’s a meal and side dish all in one!
17. pecan pie muffins;
Another breakfast classic, pecan pie muffins are everything you love about pecan pie but without excess goop. (Goop being sugary corn syrup.). Don’t get me wrong, no shade on a classic pecan pie, but I like to pretend I’m eating slightly less sugar for breakfast—and these pecan pie muffins are it.
I include two options for glaze flavors: the classic maple icing or go with a bright orange glaze that complements the toasted pecans. Bonus, it’s easy to make these gluten free with just a flour swap.
18. pumpkin patch truffles;
When it comes to fall recipes, these pumpkin spice truffles come on their own bed of delicious cookie dirt! These cute little bite-sized treats are all dolled up to look like pumpkins, complete with vines and candy leaves. Made from pumpkin spice bread, you can make your own, or use storebought. You can also use leftover pumpkin spice muffins as an alternative.
It takes a little bit of elbow grease to create the illusion of individual pumpkins, but you can see just how cute these truffles are! When you want to impress, pumpkin patch pumpkin spice truffles are the way to go.
19. Halloween mash cookies;
Dark chocolate cookies packed full of white chocolate, pumpkin spice chips, and macadamia nuts for extra crunch. In my opinion, the chocolate cookie is top-notch all by itself, so once you add in the chips and nuts, it becomes next level.
20. butternut squash soup;
You’ll FALL in love with this butternut squash soup—I know I did! This classic Two Peas and their Pod recipe is one I go back to over and over again.
Serve with a classed-up grilled cheese for maximum fall recipes vibes. Sourdough bread and melts, gooey cheeses like sharp cheddar, fontina or gruyere, and a sprinkle of herbs make this a hard to beat combo!
butternut squash soup;
Easy Butternut Squash Soup is perfect for a simple, healthy, and delicious fall meal! It is great for lunch, dinner, or serve as a starter to your Thanksgiving feast.
