Hi, I’m Katie!

the blog;

When I started living on my own, I realized that aside from a few basics, I didn’t know much about cooking! My mom always cooked delicious things and I would help her sometimes, but I had never really needed to make full meals from scratch by myself before. So I decided that if I was going to feed myself for the rest of my life, I’d better find some tasty recipes. So some delicious recipes later (ok, and a few cooking mishaps), I decided to document my favorite recipes so I could make them time and time again and leave you–and myself–cooking notes!

self-proclaimed chocoholic;

I fully live my life by the motto ‘everything needs more chocolate’. Thus Best with Chocolate was born (although at that time known as tipsychocochip). When it comes to chocolate, for me, the darker the better. I will forever be a dark chocolate lover at heart. High quality milk chocolate can still make me swoon, and white chocolate has it’s place for very sugary sweet or colorful projects.

I love sharing recipes that highlight chocolate, like my s’mores kiss cookies or assorted homemade holiday truffles; and I’ve dabbled in tempering chocolate and making fancy chocolates for the holidays! But you’ll find more than just chocolate here. I’m so excited to share recipes, travel tips, and more with you on my blog. I hope Best With Chocolate brings you the same joy it brings me and my family!

about Katie;

Fast forward a few years, and my blog and life have grown. I’m married, have a dog, have a son, traveled across the world: Iceland, France, Japan, and New Zealand to name a few, and my blog has grown from a hobby into a passion.

I grew up a Jersey girl, but moved to Virginia where I work full-time as software engineer. My love of baking and cooking finds a good home between the office and my home though, as I always have eager taste testers at work and in our neighbors.

Our household is myself and my husband Tyler we often have leftovers from all my cooking, baking and experimenting. Not that our shiba inu, Kenichi, wouldn’t like to help (and does if we don’t pay attention.) He’s cute and he knows it, and nothing food-related is safe around his little chompers. Ingredients, freshly cooked meals, used napkins, they’re all fair game to him! In fact he’s eaten an entire stick of butter I left on the counter to soften…twice. But how could you stay mad at his cute little face?
