Gotta love date night! Or in the case of this weekend, date day! Tyler has planned some really thoughtful dates recently, like our getaway tiny house cabin weekend, and I’ve been doing weight watchers so I was trying to think of something less food-centric, so we went to see a show at the Kennedy Center: How to Succeed in Business Without Even Trying. It was entertaining, an all-too-relatable musical about climbing the corporate ladder. Still it left me wanting much more in the way of strong or even useful female characters and the lack of consequence in the whole thing…

If you’re looking to tackle whole30, the first barrier to entry is tackling the grocery store. Well, really the first is mentally deciding to do the diet, and the second is your shopping list. But I’m here to help! Here are some of my personal favorites for whole30 shopping. Keep in mind this was my first attempt at a whole30 so if you spot anything on here that doesn’t quite fit the official whole30 bill, leave a comment and let me and other readers know! It’s hard to navigate the store, but I hope that this serves as a helpful…

Halfway through the 30 days! Wooo! For anyone who’s interested, or just starting, or wants to know what it’s all about, I’m here to share my personal experience. I’ll give a quick overview of the diet in case anyone is unfamiliar, but if you want the full details, check out the whole30 website. Basically you avoid the following groups: (1) sugar, (2) alcohol, (3) grains/processed carbs, (4) dairy, (5) legumes. In addition to completely cutting these food groups (again, I’m not getting into the nitty gritty–visit their website for that), there’s a couple of other principles that I took to…

My first suggestion of where to start? Start cheap. There are so many options out there and until you get a better idea of what you want, try options that won’t break the bank. The best way to figure out what you need and what you like is to try different options. You can spend $100+ on planners and accessories easy–it adds up! For me, spending some money for peace of mind is worth it, but being reasonable about the investment is important. My first planner was a cheap old flimsy thing that my mom got for free from her…

My whole tipsy life segment is really the result of my planner. I needed a change. While a daily planner worked wonders for me in college and the first years out of school, over time in this “real world” thing I’ve come to realize that my days are much more regularly scheduled, and my free time revolves around a never ending to-do list. As a Type A completionist, you can imagine what this has been doing to my sanity. It’s been overwhelming to cross 4 things off my to-do list only to realize I’ve got 6 more I forgot to…

While the blog you know and love has always been primarily a food blog, I’m happy to announce that I’m expanding my topics to include more than just food! Don’t worry, tipsychocochip will still primarily be focused on food, and I still plan to have food recipes and share my love of food with you on Fridays as always! But recently I’ve been very focused on organizing–my house, my life, my work…things are getting crazy! So the new “the tipsy life” corner of this blog is to share with you my experiences, research, and thoughts in the hopes that you’ll…

Guten Morgen! Are you ready for castles and museums and delicious german/austrian food? Well you’re in the right place! I’m back from a week traveling Munich, Germany and Salzburg, Austria. It was a much needed break from the craze of work and I definitely gained a few pounds from the eating! What do you think of when you think of German food? Because before my trip the two things I could think of were pretzels and weinerschnitzel. I love soft pretzels and was definitely looking forward to that, and we got all sorts ranging from pizza pretzels to pretzel sandwiches…

Sister to one of our favorite wineries Mediterranean Cellars, Molon Lave has a much larger and commercial feel, with the perks of a small lake, rolling grounds and event space. The wines are different but still fall in the range of Greek-style offerings. – – Here’s part two of our getaway weekend (read part 1 here)! I shared the first post this past weekend because we had such a good time I couldn’t keep it in! And so many people have asked us details on the place I thought it a good idea to elaborate and share the link! Head…

An amazing tiny house getaway in the woods, off the grid out in rural Virginia. Plus a recipe for delicious make-ahead foil packets that contain a full meal of steak, veggies and potatoes, perfect for a campfire dinner.

I thought it was about time that I shared another review, it’s Ted’s Bulletin that’s up! We went there for breakfast with a group of friends before hitting up the Herndon Escape room (apparently I’ve gone enough that they recognize my name now…hah). But this was a deeeelish pre-Escape Room snack! And we did escape…I’m just saying. It did take us a while to get seated since there were 6 of us and they only do call-ahead reservations which was a little frustrating since we ended up being a couple minutes late the escape room, but it all worked out.…
