I will say, now that we have a dog, I feel guilty about using my crock pot. Not enough to stop, since I know we feed Kenichi well, but it must be some form of humane torture to have the house smelling like chicken all day and not even have the consolation that you’ll get some later. Poor pup. (I don’t feel that bad for you, you little spoiled ball of cuteness.) But this recipe is a great make-ahead recipe. Perfect to make a big batch of on the weekend, and slap together a few sandwiches the day before, or…

Here’s your basic end-all be-all shredded chicken recipe! Keep an eye out for recipes using this baby–first up: buffalo chicken wrap! This is perfect to make a big batch, and then use it for various recipes throughout the week!

So…I made this cocktail by accident! You can thank my lazy Sunday. The past few weeks have been a bit crazy, and even Saturday this weekend was crazy! Fun crazy, but crazy nonetheless. Friday we went to grab drinks before seeing Captain America! It was good, and T and I had a nice walk back chatting about our thoughts about the movie! And then Saturday, T went running (he’s training for a marathon) for 6 miles, and I actually got my butt to the gym. Then we had to take Kenichi on a long walk to tire him out a bit…

I made this for a quick dinner today, and it was tasty and looked just like the pictures over at damndelicious! I made them for dinner with some fried rice to whip in some veggies, but these would also be perfect as an appetizer! Make the meatballs a little bit smaller for an appetizer, but would be a good small party recipe. If you had more than around 6 people I’d double the recipe (but in either case would still serve another app or two)! Honestly, I don’t even have much to say about this recipe because it’s so straightforward.…

So, as in my other drink post: strawberry shortcake vodka slush, this isn’t really a full-blown recipe, but more just a conglomeration of ingredients in which eyeballing is the key to success. The reason is that for alcoholic drinks, I don’t presume to judge you. You can put as much or as little tequila as you’d like for this one. Basically you grab some triple sec, tequila, limes, and ice! For my guestimates for two it should be about 2-3 shots of tequila, the juice from 1 lime (you can zest it if you’re feelin’ classy, but I don’t usually…

Here’s recipe two from T’s and my’s Thursday night cinco de mayo dinner! Churro Cookies. Yes, they are just as glamorous as they sound. I promise. And actually, they’re amazingly simple. There’s–count ’em–only 6 ingredients! Now I don’t make these every day just because puff pastry is rather expensive (for cookie making), but let me tell you, they are like little bites of heaven. And while the round cookies are super cute and flaky, I absolutely do not throw away the strangely-shaped pieces! Bake them off and get the kids (or yourself–taste testing is a must!) to om nom the…

Happy cinco de mayo! Well, happy cinco de siete, technically, but who’s counting? I’ve been a busy pup mom this past week, not to mention work’s been a little crazy. But T and I both had rough weeks, so we decided to go all out for cinco de mayo on Thursday, and had some margaritas (henceforth known as ‘margs’), some yummy enchiladas, and some churro cookies for dessert! So you’re in luck, you get: not one, not two, but THREE posts today! I’m feeling generous. And T’s out of town visiting his family for mother’s day, so I only have the pup…

Last weekend we had a feast! My parents and my godparents were in town, and we made enough food to feed a small army! I made lamb kebabs (check out the recipe here), roasted broccoli, naan, rice, and then my key lime pie bars and oreo brownies (I have yet to post the recipe!). I ended up making gyros tonight because I had extra lamb, and the recipe I found on pinterest from food.com looked surprisingly easy! That and we picked up our adopted shiba inu Kenichi today!!!! Squeeee! So T and I wanted to spend as much time as possible with him, and I…

I’ve made this recipe a few times, and while delicious and the top and bottom of the noodle nest are crispy, the noodles are never quiiiiiite crispy enough for me! That said, it’s still amazingly delicious! I’ll bet you need to quickly cook the noodles in water and then add them to the pan, but that’s too much effort for me when you can just add water to the pan you’re already cooking in. Or add more oil to the pan to fry them up, but I prefer to pretend I’m a healthy person. I wouldn’t call this a one-pan…

Here is my classic turkey burger recipe, with a little dijon thrown in for some flavor! I classify this recipe as a “simple” one since I have most of the ingredients around the house, and the ones I usually need to shop for include: ground turkey, gruyere, and scallions! Less than 5 ingredients, so I call simple. Just toss everything in a bowl, and make sure to mix together thoroughly, but only until just incorporated unless you want some tough burgers! I’ll let you in on my secret for well-cooked burgers when you’re making them on the stove! I like the…

Corn bread, and beef, and cheese, oh my! This is a great make-ahead meal! We had a game night with a friend coming over, and I was going to try to not actually be in the kitchen making dinner for like half of his visit (like I usually am most times when people visit for dinner). I do love our current place for the fact that it has an open layout, and I can actually be in the kitchen talking to other people in both the living room area and the dining room area, and the kicker–NOT in my kitchen. It’s the…

These Mediterranean pinwheels are a perfect, EASY appetizer. This is one of our go-to’s because T likes them, and I like them, and he’s less likely to eat half the cheese and salami before they go in the oven. Though maybe more likely to eat half of them coming out of the oven. Plus there’s the added benefit of a short grocery list. There are only 6 ingredients (I’d really say 5…if you don’t have olive oil, you’re doing the kitchen wrong), and all the steps are simple. It’s even better to get some help, especially if you’re making these…
