sheet pan s’mores;
In this quarantine lifestyle we’re living, we’re definitely missing some of our favorite activities. It’s worth a little bit of missing out to protect our family and others during this time, but I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t missing the good vibes of my exercise studio, and the chillaxing at local wineries and breweries, and the previous certainty of our annual events (like the Renaissance Fair in MD, and the Bloomsburg Fair in PA).
Camping is one of those things that can spice up your quarantine days, whether it’s camping with kiddos in the backyard, or making it safely social distanced weekend getaway. Because camping ALWAYS means s’mores! But now you don’t have to build a campfire and be camping for s’mores–you can have them in your very own home! And while I will confess to being a chocolate snob in that I don’t consider Hershey’s good enough to keep around for straight snacking, I will say that it’s an honest to goodness classic for s’mores.
I don’t typically buy too much Hershey’s, but we had a huge bar lying around from Father’s Day where my sister and I tag teamed putting together a circuit board cake for the family to decorate! My dad is an electrical engineer, and my sister has background in the field as well, whereas I went tangential and studied software development. Needless to say we’re all nerds and had a great time making this cake. I think we did a pretty good job, but you can judge for yourself! We used the nerdy nummies idea for the candies, but my sister made a chocolate cake with chocolate ganache. But with all the various candies needed, cue leftover Hershey’s bar, and my mind immediately went to s’mores!
Lucky this is about the simplest “recipe”, so much so the word recipe gets quotes. But the other fun part of making these in your kitchen is that you can customize your chocolate! Use whatever you have on hand Hershey’s, Lindt, Godiva squares, Reese’s Peanut Butter cups! Get creative. You can even add fun additions like sprinkles and chocolate sauce, or serve with ice cream for a s’mores ice cream sandwich! I will say that I actually ended up wanting more marshmallows, so I recommend one slab of chocolate, then a marshmallow as the bottom and then another marshmallow on the top! The graham cracker gets all golden and toasty…yum! I’m drooling just thinking about this. Might be time to wander over to the kitchen and stumble on making just one or two of these bad boys for an afternoon snack!
sheet pan s’mores;
Ingredients
- 1 sleeve graham crackers
- 2 1.55 oz hershey's chocolate bars
- 18 large marshmallows
Instructions
- Cover a baking sheet in foil or parchment paper. Split each of the 9 graham cracker sheets in the sleeve into two squares and lay out all squares onto the sheet. 9 will be used as lids, and 9 as bottoms.
- Break Hershey’s bar into bricks of two and lay on each of the 9 squares that will be the bottom of each s'mores sandwich.
- Lay marshmallows across each square, both those with chocolate and without. Smush them down or pull apart slightly to make the surface area cover more evenly.
- Broil on high for 1-3 minutes, taking care to keep watch to prevent burning.
- Remove from the oven and cool for a minute before topping the sandwiches with the graham craker lid and serving warm.
