So these past few weeks have been crazy, as I’ve mentioned! With the wedding, aka Bucknell reunion since like half the guests were college friends, it was an awesome but completely packed wedding weekend! A whole bunch of the Bucknell crew ended up going to brunch at Cooper’s Hawk Winery & Restaurant. I’m actually going to dedicate two posts to this, one for the restaurant now, and a future one to the winery! That way I can give both aspects their due. So onto the lunch! We had originally wanted brunch, and I thought they had a brunch menu, but…

This jazz festival event is apparently annual at Lake Anne out in Reston, VA, though this is the first time I’ve gone. We went as part of our awesome labor day weekend, the same one that brought you posts on Reese’s peanut butter bars, and MD Renaissance Festival. It was a crazy weekend packed full of everything: breweries, a wine tasting, the jazz festival, an escape room, dinner at a hot pot restaurant, the renaissance fair, and a ton of board games! The reason we even went out to Lake Anne was because I had heard of a chocolate and wine…

G’dday ladies and gentleman, and welcome to the Renaissance Faire of ye olde! Jk, I’m not going to type the whole post like that. Mostly because I had to think even long and hard about that one sentence! But I wanted to share with everyone the fun we have at the now annual Renaissance Fair escapade! My sister has gone with some of her college friends for a lot longer than I have (this was only my second year). But now that I’m in the area, I get to tag along, and also provide a place to crash! It’s a…

Here’s another brunch spot for you to try out: Piola! The one we go to is the location in Arlington (an easy walk from the Rosslyn metro stop, FYI). I’ve heard that there’s one in D.C. but have yet to try that location. The only difference I’ve heard about is that the one in D.C. is bottomless brunch where as the Arlington location, because of VA liquor laws cannot technically do “bottomless”. But Piola, and a lot of other restaurants, get around this by allowing you to add endless drinks from a select menu for $1 ea. Which in some cases I actually…

Here it is! I know I’ve been promising this post forever, back from when T’s parents came to visit and we stopped by quattro goomba winery (read the review), and america eats tavern (read the review). Mediterranean Cellars is really one of our favorite wineries. I’ve discovered a love of wineries through a friend that I went to college with, R. He works at The Winery at La Grange out in Haymarket where he grew up, and he’s taken us around to some of his favorite other wineries in the area over the three years I’ve been in Virginia. Mediterranean Cellars is definitely a…

Quattro Goomba’s Winery was the second stop on our day out with T’s parents a few weekends ago. The first being Mediterranean Cellars-tune in next friday for my review of it! T and I had visited Quattro Goomba’s another time earlier, for DC SIR’s anniversary party. It was a nice winery, made especially nice by all the shiba inus roaming around! But this time it was so hot, I was sweating through my clothes! Quattro Goomba’s actually has both a winery and a brewery, although I have yet to actually try the brewery. As if that wasn’t enough, they even have a restaurant!…

So let me tell you about this past weekend! I know we’re almost at this weekend, but I’m about to travel up to my parents for the weekend, and last weekend was a ton of fun! T’s parents came to visit, which is always a good time. We really packed this weekend full of fun stuff, so I think I’ll be writing about this one particular weekend for a while! We started off Friday with a trip to Artie’s, a restaurant that has been here for over 20 years, actually since his parents used to live in the area. They were…

It’s funny that sometimes I look at my own posts, and I realize that my favorites–either recipes, or reviews–don’t have posts yet. It makes sense in the grand scheme of things since I only started less than a year ago, but it’s funny to me that some of T’s and my’s favorite places don’t have dedicated posts. On the one hand they’re fun and local, but on the other we go there often enough that I feel like I shouldn’t take pictures every single time. So today, you get a post about a local hangout of ours–Mad Fox Brewery! It’s…

Yesterday was an amazing summer day! Beautiful outside, and definitely hot, but not so horrible in the shade. Definitely would have needed some sunscreen if we didn’t camp out at some nice picnic benches at great shoals winery! I’ve wanted to try out this winery for a while since it’s pretty much smack between where I live and Baltimore, where we have a number of friends! However today was so gorgeous and we were in the area anyway shopping for fabric for my bridesmaid dress (J’s wedding is only 3 months away!!! It’s so close!), so groupon in hand, we trekked…

Note: Permanently closed, as of October 16, 2016 So this Sunday I finally got to try brunch at what I lovingly have dubbed “el fuegos” since Fuego Cocina y Tequileria is a bit of a mouthful. Especially after two margaritas and the tipsy has kicked in. And you might be scoffing at me–hah, two margaritas!–but let me tell you, their frozen margaritas (henceforth margs) typically have three shots of tequila in them and couple that with the salt and the amazing taste, and you’ve got yourself a tipsy brunch. We started off with a round of apps: queso fondido, guacamole,…
