Last week was my best friend’s birthday, and so we went out in Rockville, MD to celebrate! A recommendation from a coworker, we tried out La Canela in Rockville Town Center. It was just a double date, but I love going to Peruvian places with Tyler since he studied abroad in Peru and can judge authenticity. Two thumbs up from Tyler! They started us off with an amouse-bouche, or a complimentary chef appetizer. I can’t quite remember what they called it, but it was basically a savory fried pastry wrapped around a ceviche center. It was quite tasty, and the…

One of my friends is joining weight watchers with me, and I wanted to be helpful and compile a list of my go-to foods and snacks to help her get started! Let me start from the beginning though. I am getting out of my comfort zone and trying a variety of things to try to feel and look my best for my wedding this fall! I started off with whole30, which you can read about in various posts: A two week look at whole30; the best and worst of whole30; among a few recipes (see the best and worst post). Yes it’s a…

Deliciously crispy wings tossed with that stuff that runs through Maryland blood–Old Bay! Classic, simple, and delicious.

Delicious homemade fried chicken nuggets on mini waffles! These savory little bites are perfect topped with maple syrup for a little extra kick of sweet! – – Umg, these are the best things ever! They were a major hit at our Superbowl party! They do require some work, but I promise you they’re worth it! The chicken nugget recipe I used was adapted from Stephanie’s copy-cat chick-fil-a recipe at Stockpiling Moms. I actually happened to not have milk in my fridge, but luckily I keep buttermilk powder in my fridge as a backup, and it worked wonderfully in this recipe. I…

If you’re looking for a healthful chicken salad that’s perfect in a wrap, as an appetizer, or just on its own, look no further! With toasted corn, cubed avocado, cooked chicken, hard boiled eggs, bacon, and chives, you’re sure to love this recipe! – – This chicken salad is perfect for that other half of a rotisserie chicken, or leftovers when you realize you’ve made far too much shredded crockpot chicken and just need something different! Plus it’s an easy and delicious–and healthy–recipe now that the holidays are over and you’re filled to the brim. I followed the recipe from…

Chicken and broccoli alfredo stuffed shells, a creamy, cheesy take on stuffed shells. Add in a spicy kick to amp up the heat even more! Leave out the chicken to make this a vegetarian meal! – – What’s the formula for a tasty dinner? Broccoli, spicy chicken, alfredo sauce, cheese, and some giant pasta shells! Really, this recipe has it all! Protein, veggies, pasta, and of course no meal is complete without cheese! Plus, added bonus, all you need to do is leave out the chicken and you have yourself an equally tasty vegetarian meal! Life has been a little…

Installment 2 of Copycat week! The first installment was stuffed chicken marsala! Chicken Bellagio is hands-down one of my favorite meals of all time! And I eat a lot, so that should tell you something. This recipe is another one that shows you can have all the comforts and cravings of restaurant meals at home! Courtesy of the Cheesecake Factory. As far as I know I haven’t heard or seen of it anywhere else, so I’m going with that. In fact, it’s about the only dish (other than happy hour apps) that I order when I go there. It’s a huge portion,…

Last week was one heck of a stressful week. I’m sure everyone can agree. But I don’t want to talk politics…I want to declare this week…COPYCAT WEEK! Bum, bum bum! No, you’re not allowed to just repeat what I say–repeat what I say. I mean Restaurant copycat week. I’m going to share some of my favorite, make-at-home restaurant recipes. I won’t spoil the surprise, but the three recipes I have planned to shareare from the following: Olive Garden, Cheesecake Factory, and Panera! I’ll leave you to guess exactly which recipes for the other two. But this Stuffed Chicken Marsala is…

I give you: the everyday thanksgiving sandwich–named for the swap of chicken instead of turkey in this awesome fall-themed sandwich. And just in case you needed that extra push, this sandwich is about as easy as can be. Go and make this crockpot chicken and stuffing I posted last week, and then when you have too many leftovers and are bored with it–because let’s be honest, slow cookers lend themselves to that–you have this sandwich to look forward to. Slow cookers usually involve making a ton of a dish, and then no matter how delicious, you get sick of eating it…

With fall right around the corner, this is the ultimate comfort food to keep in your arsenal. Chicken and stuffing, and even green beans so that you have a full meal right out of the crock pot! It’s basically a variety of thanksgiving, but since it’s chicken and all, you won’t be encroaching on the traditional meal, so you can rest easy. Plus there’s that whole set-it-and-forget-it aspect, as well as the fact that crock pots are the best aromatic around for your home. This is a simple recipe, with a whole 6 ingredients, but since one of those is water,…

Up front: this recipe has nothing to do with me! It came completely and utterly from T, and I’m not actually sure if he pulled the idea off the intermanets, or came up with this tasty concoction on his own! My role in making this was twofold: 1) make the garlic mayo, and 2) grate the cheese. That’s it! My boy doeeees know how to take care of me in the food department. He even made a take on roasted caesar broccoli swapping out the caesar dressing for Italian dressing! T’s parents would be impressed–thinking about vegetables all by himself! And everything turned…
