These cinnamon puff sticks are a cute and extremely simple adornment to any dessert!  For example, they make a cute addition to my previous reverse strawberry shortcake post!  Or if you’re like me you’ll just want to snack on them straight out of the oven.  They definitely have that extra bit of luxury when they’re warm and flaky and just–mmmm!

I actually make these a lot whenever I have leftover puff pastry from other recipes, like salmon en croute (coming soon), and these are extremely similar to the churro cookies recipe I shared earlier.  Just without the filling, and in stick form instead of circles!  Especially because puff pastry is delicious, but also on the expensive side, I like finding reasons, especially tasty ones, to use up leftovers!

I feel like you barely even need a recipe for this one, as I can sum it up in one sentence: cut up the puff pastry, slather with melted butter, then sprinkle over with cinnamon sugar and bake!  I love watching them puff up in the oven.  Actually in this one because I was making salmon en croute at the same time and didn’t have time to dig out my pre-made (by me) cinnamon sugar, I actually just sprinkled some vanilla sugar followed by a dash of cinnamon!

Here’s your bonus recipe for vanilla sugar: fill a jar with sugar, then cut open a vanilla bean, and add it.  Seal it up, shake it or mix it every so often, and you’ve got yourself some vanilla sugar!  It smells sooo good, and tastes just as good, but it does take a few weeks to start infusing.

Serving suggestions for these cinnamon puff sticks include: ice cream, reverse strawberry shortcake, any sort of dessert dip, fruit salsa, or just straight up!  They’re pretty flexible.  I would love to hear what you use them for in the comments below!
