This past weekend I was in one of my closest friend’s weddings–you’ll have heard me mention it over the past few months, like when I did a dinner review of Kona Grill, where we had her bachelorette dinner. So since I didn’t have much time this weekend, I thought, why not go simple! If you want a simple side, this is it! These roasted potatoes are a snap to prep, and the only downside to them is they do need a bit of time to roast in the oven. But if you’re dealing with the rest of your meal, then it’s a…

This weekend we had another game night: read D&D session, because we’re cool. =D It’s been a couple months since our last one, because summer always seems to get crazy busy for everyone and we have to find a weekend where all 5 of us are in town and not busy. But at least for you that means–more recipes! We’ve started doing a pot luck so everyone contributes, but since I like cooking I’ll usually make one or two things that I’ve been meaning to try out. Other recipes I’ve made before include mediterranean dip, or caramelized bacon onion dip ,…

Happy Fourth of July! I know you all will probably be spammed by social media with red, white, and blue galore! So here’s some green to mix it up! =D I wanted to share this because it’s an easy recipe to make for company! If you prep the ingredients before cooking and then just add to a pot to simmer away, it works quite nicely. Let me know if you try this method! I am in Chicago for a family vacation until Wednesday, so I wanted to make sure I shared a recipe at least and didn’t leave you all hanging.…

This breakfast crescent ring is yumm-ee! It does take a little bit of effort rather early in the morning I’ll admit, with all the different pieces that go together. But it was tasty, that’s for sure! Actually it was tastier than I even expected, but I’m glad it was since it took a little more effort than expected at first glance. The one thing to do next time to make it look even better would be to make the ring a little smaller so that there isn’t quite as large of a hole in the middle. I think that would make…

This was actually the first time that I’ve made risotto on my own! This was my last roommate’s go-to recipe when she wanted to cook, and let me tell you, it’s amazing. It does take a little bit of a time investment, but some of my favorite memories from when we lived together were us chatting in the kitchen over a pot of risotto. We also usually had glasses of wine in our hands. I mean you need wine for the recipe, so obviously the natural extension was to sip on a glass! I definitely recommend that; maybe I should add…

This is an awesome sidekick to a meal! It does take a long time, but not a ton of effort, just the checking every 15 minutes and flipping. Most of the work is upfront, and also works out well for a helper to make when you’re preoccupied with the main dish. Holy butter! No literally, this is what happened when I microwaved the butter…I thought it was amusing so I took a photo, XD. This recipe was adapted from Spicy Southern Kitchen’s melting potatoes recipe, and let me tell you, they really are “melting”! The chicken broth gives them a full whallop…

This is a nice, clean, vegetarian recipe! It’s super easy to make, and would also make a great side, although we ate it as the main dish tonight. It is definitely a little on the light side for a main meal, but was still super tasty. It’s got a variety of vegetables and a nice Mediterranean flair. I ended up using yellow onions though the original recipe by Taylor over at food faith fitness used red onions. I imagine that red onions would be a little bit better because they’re less potent, and give an extra pop of color. But if you chop the…

Here’s the twin to my previously posted recipe, jalapeno cheddar stuffed burgers, though they’d go great with honey mustard pretzel chicken tenders, or a chicken pesto burger. So many possibilities! But I will say these fries are a wonderful side. They’re not particularly work-intensive, but give you some fries in your own home. I will be the first to admit that these are not a replacement for those triple-fried grease bombs that are your normal delicious french fries, but they’re a nice alternative with a tasty spice rub that you can make in your own home. You of course could mix up the spice…

If you’ve clicked this link you’ve got good taste. I’m just putting that up front! This recipe was born from a grocery store sale! I love those. Browsing ads for some great deals helps me to narrow down what I might want to make. If chicken’s on sale, then it’s chicken for dinner; if there’s a good price on salmon, then we’re having salmon for dinner! And in this case … crab meat was on sale and I was craving some comfort food, so crab mac ‘n cheese it is! T and I are trying eat healthier now that the…

So we made individual garlic monkey breads as a quick side to caesar chicken tortellini the other other night! They were quite tasty, and simple to boot, considering I pretty much always have some biscuit dough floating around in my refrigerator. At the grocery store I had only been focused on picking up ingredients for the tortellini, so side dishes didn’t really cross my mind. But I got home and was thinking, you know what goes great with caesar salad and tortellini? Garlic bread! But alas, no fresh crusty bread, so what’s a girl to do to get her garlic…

So a friend sent me a Hello Fresh discount code for 1/2 off a week’s delivery and I forgot about it for months until I got a reminder e-mail from Hello Fresh (guess those reminder e-mails do work!). And it was almost Thanksgiving, so I figured I’d have an order delivered the week following; that way I wouldn’t have to go grocery shopping when I got home after traveling for the holiday. I’ve only made one recipe so far and here’s my conclusion on Hello Fresh: it’s convenient, but I see no need to have a weekly or even a…
