    I’ve made this recipe a few times, and while delicious and the top and bottom of the noodle nest are crispy, the noodles are never quiiiiiite crispy enough for me!  That said, it’s still amazingly delicious!  I’ll bet you need to quickly cook the noodles in water and then add them to the pan, but that’s too much effort for me when you can just add water to the pan you’re already cooking in.  Or add more oil to the pan to fry them up, but I prefer to pretend I’m a healthy person.  I wouldn’t call this a one-pan…

    April 19, 2016bestwithchocolate@gmail.com

    Here is my classic turkey burger recipe, with a little dijon thrown in for some flavor!  I classify this recipe as a “simple” one since I have most of the ingredients around the house, and the ones I usually need to shop for include: ground turkey, gruyere, and scallions!  Less than 5 ingredients, so I call simple. Just toss everything in a bowl, and make sure to mix together thoroughly, but only until just incorporated unless you want some tough burgers!  I’ll let you in on my secret for well-cooked burgers when you’re making them on the stove!  I like the…

    February 25, 2016bestwithchocolate@gmail.com

    We went whole-hog on dinner today!  On the menu: caramelized onion crispy chicken, ranch broccoli, and melting potatoes!  I did cheat a little and the ranch broccoli came out of a bag, but hey, you need those fast and easy dinner add-ons!  Bonus points for it being a vegetable.  But this caramelized onion crispy chicken was really pretty great.  It was simple, and quite tasty. I do say, since I adapted Dara’s Crispy Chicken with Caramelized Onions and Tomatoes sans tomatoes (T doesn’t like tomatoes in general), I want to add a sauce next time.  I think a lightened up balsamic sauce would…

    honey mustard pretzel chicken tenders;

    January 7, 2016bestwithchocolate@gmail.com

    Here’s a perfect family-pleaser recipe!  I call it that because it’s a familiar and tasty option, spiced up with a little gourmet twist, but not with ridiculous ingredients.  Chicken tenders, done the normal way, except instead of breadcrumbs, crushed pretzels for extra crunch, and throw in some honey mustard in the eggwash.  That’s really all there is! I like this recipe because you get a little extra crunch for a touch of extra work.  I don’t know if anyone else has this problem but I hate “crushing” things.  Everyone makes it sound so easy–just crush the pretzels, like it’s that…

    This past week was a struggle.  Actually, all (two) weeks since Thanksgiving.  Even with the Hello Fresh meals eliminating some meal planning and grocery shopping, I’ve felt like a crazy person.  Just this past weekend there was our company holiday party, a LAN party with the guys at work, a visit to a Shiba inu adoption event, brunch with friends, and an entire day driving to and advising for my sorority.  While all those things were fun, needless to say, it’s been a little crazy.  I could have used a weekend break from the weekend! I remember when I was…

    I’ve been on a health kick.  Trying not to overeat and trying to make healthier choices.  But foooooood is so yum, it’s hard.  BuI found these baked southwest egg rolls and thought they’d be super tasty!  With some salsa and fresh guacamole on the side, they make for a nice fresh dinner or a perfect appetizer!  I didn’t have black beans, so I just used pinto beans instead.  I imagine it’d be fine either way, just use whatever you prefer or have on hand! If you’re planning to use the egg rolls as appetizers, I would try making them in…

    So pad see ew is my favorite Thai dish.  The sweet soy sauce and the fat rice noodles … so wonderful together!  Rice noodles are my favorite!  I love chow fun and all those dim sum dishes with noodles — yum yum!  The hardest part of Asian dishes is navigating the Asian grocery store to find what you actually want.  You might know you need to get “black soy sauce” but there are so many to choose from!  I’m happy to say that for this recipe, there’s not too much to do.  For me, the two hardest ingredients to find…

    It’s pretty rare that I make a recipe from scratch.  Most times I just browse pinterest until I’m drooling then pick the thing that is most drool-worthy that day.  But these chicken burgers are quite tasty, and I’m pretty proud of them.  Even more so because I snuck a veggie into the burger.  Plus with homemade pesto, I feel like it’s complete. Making pesto feels so summery to me.  Those big basil plants, snitching a few toasted pine nuts that cost way too much but are way too tasty.  I use basil mostly, although sometimes I throw in some parsley…
