If you haven’t heard of Dangerously Delicious Pies, you’re missing out! They have several locations and a food truck, and what’s more they do sweet AND savory pies. They also do quiches! Before you go “huh”, let me explain! Savory pies are things like Pork BBQ, Hot Rod Potato, and my personal favorite–SMOG. Steak, Onion, Mushroom, and Gruyere! I have a recipe that I’ll share one day to make SMOG pie at home, but you still can’t beat the place that created it all! They’ve got a nice flaky crust, and if you’re a crust fan, a good ratio! For those about filling, sometimes the crust can be a bit much. The fillings are extremely tasty and creative, and I have yet to find anything that rivals them!
Pork BBQ Pie with BBQ sauceI love getting these pies around the holidays. They’re perfect when you’re busy shopping and baking and cooking for all the other days, it’s nice to just pop these in the oven and have a yummy, interesting meal with none of the prep work! I think if I get them next year I’ll get them early and freeze them. Traffic was a bit of a nightmare picking them up!
Beer Brat PieBut at least it was worth the long trek because the H Street location has a date night special on Monday nights, 5pm-12am! Two slices of savory pie, and two slices of sweet pie for $22 (non-alcoholic), and $33 (alcoholic). It’s a super yummy deal, and it’s perfect because you can try out some of their flavors! This time we went for the Beer Brat pie and the Pork BBQ pie. I really loved the Pork BBQ although I wish I discovered that they had extra BBQ sauce in the corner because I ran out of that baby fast! Tyler liked the Beer Brat pie, but I liked mine a bit better because it had a little more meat to the filling! (Both literally and figuratively). The pies I pre-ordered for Thanksgiving were the traditional SMOG pie, and this year we’re trying out the Chicken Pie! I’ll let you know what I think when the holidays have calmed down a bit.

French Toast PieFor dessert we went with the French Toast pie and the Chocolate Chess. The French Toast was warm and gooey and delicious, although I’m not exactly sure what made it French toasty. It had a syrup flavor but was a little on the mushy side for me. Tyler sure nommed it up though! I went with the chocolate chess pie, which was quite tasty, but the filling was a little more cake-like than I was expecting–but to be fair I didn’t really know what a chess pie was. I think I was expecting more of a custard or a mousse. It was still delicious, but it would’ve been to die for with some ice cream!
Chocolate Chess PieOverall: 5 out of 5 chips (read: stars)! Points for originality, tasty food, and a cute atmosphere! If I had anything to complain about it’s that they’re too busy! Which you really can’t fault a business for, can you?
