So we might’ve moved in over a month ago.  We also might’ve had our party just under a month ago.  But I did just re-make this pepper cheddar popcorn and wanted to share it with the world.  Mostly because I made it by accident, and those are the tastiest recipes.  Plus it’s just so fun to watch the kernels popping …!

Popping corn!
Popping corn for Pepper Cheddar Popcorn!

We decided to have a beer tasting housewarming!  Since everyone we invited was coming from all over, we just had everyone bring a 6-pack or a growler of some awesome local beers!  We got an awesome variety, and we downed those suckers.  We even had a bunch of tasting glasses we’ve gotten from various cider/beer tastings around, which made it a la fancie.  T and I definitely did not have as many beers left over at the end of the night as we thought we would!

Instructions

  • Add the canola oil and 3 popcorn kernels into a 6 quart saucepan.
  • Cover and cook over medium-high heat until all 3 kernels have popped.
  • Add the remaining kernels, cover, and remove from heat for 30 seconds. Then return the pot to heat and the kernels should begin popping within a minute
  • Cook, shaking occasionally until the popping sound slows, approximately 2 minutes.
  • Near the end of popping, lift the lid slightly to let out steam and keep popcorn crisp.
  • Melt butter in a pan toward the end of popping.
  • Pour popcorn into brown paper bag, and pour over melted butter.
  • Shake the bag to coat evenly, then add in powders and shake again.

Notes

Other Serving Suggestions;
1. Gorgonzola Pepper (2 Tbsp Gorgonzola powder,  1 tsp pepper, tsp hickory smoke powder)
2. Ranch (3 Tbsp ranch seasoning)
