Ingredients

  • 1 15 oz package breakfast sausage
  • ¼ cup flour
  • 2 cups milk
  • salt & pepper
  • dash of hot sauce (optional)
  • 16 canned biscuits (2 tubes)

Instructions

Sausage Gravy

  • Heat a large pan over medium heat. Remove breakfast sausage from its wrapping, and sauté until crumbles are cooked through.
  • Add in flour and stir to coat. It should absorb some of the oil and stick to the sausage.
  • Add in the milk by half cups, stirring and allowing to thicken.
  • Reduce heat and simmer 1-2 minutes, stirring constantly.
  • Season with salt, pepper, and hot sauce as desired.
  • Note: The sausage gravy can be made ahead, and it can be helpful to allow the gravy to cool before proceeding to stuff the biscuits. This will allow the gravy to thicken and be a bit easier to stuff.

Sausage and Gravy Bombs

  • Take each biscuit and flatten it out. Add a scoop of sausage gravy in the middle, and fold the edges in. I find it easiest to fold in half and pinch like an empanada shape and then form into a rounder ball once sealed.
  • Place, seam side down on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Bake at 350° for 8-10 minutes or until golden brown. Allow to cool before serving.
