chocolate frogs;

  • 20 oz dark chocolate coating wafers

Instructions

jelly frog centers;

  • For each of the house colors, repeat these instructions to make jelly frog centers.
  • Prepare your 8-cavity frog mold with a generous spray of cooking spray to make sure they release easily from the molds. Set aside.
  • In a small bowl, add ¼ cup cold water, and then sprinkle in the unflavored gelatin. Using a small whisk or fork, mix together to ensure a smooth consistency without clumps.
  • In a medium pot add the Jell-O in your chosen color together with ½ cup sugar, and ¼ cup + 2 Tbsp hot water. Bring the mixture to a simmer and stir until all ingredients are dissolved.
    Slytherin: green lime; Gryffindor: red black cherry; Hufflepuff: yellow pineapple; Ravenclaw: blue berry
  • Add the prepared gelatin mixture into the pot and break it up with a spatula, stirring until it dissolves. Allow the mixture to boil on medium-low heat for 10 minutes.
  • Remove from the heat, and stir in flavoring extract. Pour into prepared molds, making sure not to fill them to the brim. Leave ~¼" from the top. Optionally use a toothpick to pop any bubbles on top, or use a spoon to lift off any foam.
    Slytherin: 5 drops lorann's raspberry flavoring; Gryffindor: cherry Kool-Aid packet; Hufflepuff: ½ tsp coconut extract; Ravenclaw: blue raspberry lemonade Kool-Aid packet
  • Allow mixture to cool at least 2 hours. Once cool and jellied remove from the molds and set aside.

chocolate frogs;

  • Start with clean, dry frog molds, making sure there's no residue or oil prior to starting to make the chocolate frogs. For each flavor of jellied frog, you'll need 10 oz chocolate candy coating.
  • Melt 5oz dark chocolate candy coating according to instructions. Pour equal amount into each cavity and tilt the mold or use a spoon or spatula to make sure the whole cavity is covered.
  • Quickly add in your jellied frog to the center of the mold, pressing gently to secure it into the chocolate.
  • Melt additional 5oz dark chocolate candy coating according to instructions, and fill any remaining space in each cavity with chocolate. Make sure to tap your mold on the counter to release any air bubbles.
  • Allow to set at least 2-4 hours (or according to package instructions). De-mold your chocolate frogs, and enjoy!
