Ingredients

Golden Simple Syrup

Cocktail

  • 5 oz apple pie moonshine (or replace with 4 oz apple cider, and 1 oz rum, bourbon, or mead)
  • 2 oz golden syrup

Mocktail

  • 5 oz apple cider (replace moonshine in Cocktail recipe)

Instructions

Golden Simple Syrup

  • In a small saucepan over medium heat, add the sugar, water, and gold sprinkles. Continually stir until the sugar melts and the mixture begins to boil.
  • Remove from the heat and allow to cool to room temperature. Transfer to a glass bottle for storage. (Glass recommended because it will be sticky.)

Cocktail/Mocktail

  • In a glass or measuring cup, measure out 5 oz of the apple cider base of your choosing. It can be warm or cold. Use either: 5 oz apple pie moonshine; 5 oz apple cider; or 4 oz apple cider + 1 oz liquor of choice. Recommended liquors include rum, bourbon, and mead.
  • Add 1 oz of the gold simple syrup to the apple cider base and stir thoroughly to combine. Taste and then add the remaining 1 oz of gold simple syrup depending on color and sweetness.
  • Pour into a glass, or transfer into a potion bottle and stopper the top.
  • Serve warm or cold. If serving warm, make sure to heat the cider in a previous step. (I would caution against heating the potion bottle in a microwave. A microwave-safe mug or glass would be fine.) Gold sparkles will settle to the bottom over time, but just give it a stir or shake to make the liquid sparkle.
